Hello,  I am researching Lt. Renard who was shot down and captured on Dec. 25, 1944.  Is there any availability to a crew photo?  MACR?  Thank you for your consideration.

My father, Claude L. Rains, was the pilot of Lt. Renard's plane. I have the MACR #10649 and other info that might interest you. Rains and Renard were both captured in Czechslovakia and imprisoned at Stalag Luft 1 in Barth Germany. I even have the room # that they were in.
I recently created a web page with a few photos and links -not a finished website, just some info - that might interest you at http://brainsmediagroup.com/claude%20rains%20photos%201.htm
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

I have a digital copy of Lt Renard's diary although I cannot remember how I came to have it or who gave it to me.  I would be more than happy to share it with you though, should you be interested.

Swindy, I'd love to have a copy of Lt. Renard's diary. I'm slowly piecing together the history that my Dad, Claude Rains, never talked about. Anything relating to the crew, the plane and the missions of AAF 44-6631 will be added to the info that I already have. In turn, I'll share whatever I have with anyone that's interested.

Many thanks to you and all that contribute to this site.

I am trying to find a copy of Henery Frederick Renards diary. I have obtained in trade a lot of his personal items- hats, emblems, wings, airforce ring, photos ect. , but most important I saved his letters that start in flight school and go to his POW days and a few letters back home. It's a shoe box full of letters. I have some of his info from other Airforce guys that found stuff out about him and I have a copy of his transcript on his 1996 oral history for the Wi Veterans Museum Reseacrh Center.

I would like to obtain a copy of the diary if possible. I realize this is an old post, but I recently traded a 63 ford truck for his box of items in an effort to save the letters intact. Please post any info if you have a copy.  I am going to scan the letters , but I have an old 2003 Mac and no scanner so I am going to work out a deal with the neighbor in hope she will show me how to scan and save these letters in electronic format on her new mac. Thanks for any help.

Here are a few photos of the goodies From Lt Renard.  I missed out on the dress uniform and hat which was sold prior to my trade. I also got the shoebox full of letters.  His oral history is on line from the web at the veterans museum. A great read. IMG_9842_zps39eztprf.JPG  IMG_9844_zps7g7hxavt.JPG  IMG_9845_zpsogctddnp.JPG  IMG_9847_zpsoqqyaiyl.JPG  IMG_9848_zpsy5epgnbo.JPG  IMG_9849_zpslwvihcr6.JPG  IMG_9851_zpstsxmszpc.JPG  IMG_9852_zpst6cinkmm.JPG

As for the $175 box of Crash Souvenir tags shown in the above photos, flack fragment, and 50 caliber bullet.
The writing on the cut out metal tags  may be related to these crashes on the day.

The only B-24 crashes I could find for March 44 at Wendover Field Utah.
