I am looking to find information on my uncle 2nd LT James M Cooper, of the 463rd. From data I have been able to find, he was shot down on June 9th, 1944. However, I see on this site under missions that no planes were lost that day.
I was hoping that someone may have data that could confirm this date and possibly the plane serial # and/or MACR #, so that I can do further research.
Any help / guidance would be appreciated.

From my dad's diary. Dad was chief armorer of C flight 772nd on that day. His entries are brief, so I am only assuming the loss of 724 was on the day he recorded it. Hope this helps.
We lost one of our new radar ships, #724, and some of my oldest combat friends, Morales (tail gunner), Kerbacker and "Woody" (waist), Reichers – engineer, and Lt. Geo. DeBooey, sq’drn bomb.

I am familiar with 42-97724 as 42-37997 was shot down 6-10-1944 in general area. I have information on a 50 cal machine recovered from 42-97724 in 2010 along with other info. I am very interested in speaking to you as I am working with History Flight (a nonprofit group dedicated to recovering MIA’s) to investigate location of 42-37997. I believe we can help each other.
