Did anyone here have any info on my grandfather 1st LT Ken Rohrs. He was a pilot shot down Feb 15 1945. Have questions on AC# and nickname. thanks

Jared,your grandfather was on the same crew as my dad.Duane Gardner. Not sure if you got my email,but sent you some info on the crew names,and planes they flew together. They used to meet together yearly as a crew until the passing of a few. I remember my dad talking about your grandfather, a man he was proud to serve with.  Bruce Gardner

1Lt. Kenneth V. Rohr's B-17 was hit by 2 500lbs bombs dropped by a formation flying above on February 15th, 1945. One bomb hit the radio room the other the right wing. The bomber was shattered airborne. 4 crewmen were blown out of the ship. 2 were captured near Vösendorf and the other two in the vicinity of Götzendorf/Leitha. 6 men were KIA. The crashplace is known and the wholes torn by the shrapnels into the prop of engine #1 still can be seen at a local museum in Vienna. Regards - Kurt Rieder
